Ken Disselhorst attended the Mizzou Alumni Association leadership \weekend that took place September 12-14, 2019. He was one of 200 attendees..The group was able to tour the new south end zone facility.at Faurot Field. The above picture was taken in front of the facility and with the tiger.
The group heard from Board of Curators Chair and Tiger Basketball legend Jon Sundvold. Ideas were exchanged among fellow alumni leaders, and awards were presented to various leaders and alumni groups. Great River Tigers were recognized for their promotion of membership in the alumni association during their summer sendoff. .
The Great River Chapter always gives a local award to some organization or person that helps the association with their Summer Send-Off. This year the award was presented by Sarah Bockhold, president, to Rachel Bringer-Shepherd on July 26, 2019, at Jackson Park Golf Course. Rachel has contributed a $500 scholarship every year for as long as we have been having the summer event, which has been seven years. .
The Great River Tigers Alumni Association sponsored their 7th annual Student Send-Off on July 26th, 2019 at Jackson Park Golf Course in Palmyra, Mo.. One hundred and eighty eight people were in attendance including 45 students.
Dean Daubert, vice chancellor and Dean of the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, was the guest speaker. Chancellor Alexander Cartwright and his wife Melinda also attended the event. Chancellor Cartwright spoke to the crowd about his goals for the university since he took over the job two years ago..
Jordan Frericks and her family attended the event again this year. Jordan spoke about her year since graduating from the university and being a member of the girls’ basketball team. Last year she spent playing basketball in Germany..
Earlier in the year seven merit scholarships were awarded by the GRT. These students were given a certificate and introduced to the crowd. Ten names were drawn at random and 10 $500 scholarships were awarded.

GRT had several ways to raise money. These included a signed football which was auctioned off, and selling tickets for a Mizzou firepit and football tickets to the Mississippi game.
The Great River Tigers Alumni Chapter has achieved Capstone status for the 2018-19 year, the highest level of achievement for regional alumni chapters. By attaining this level of recognition, the chapter receives enhanced support from the Mizzou Alumni Association and is able to award scholarships to talented students in the area who aspire to be Tigers.
Following graduation ceremonies in May, several members of the Great River Tigers wrote notes of congratulations to graduating Missouri students from the area. This helped the association meet celebrating a Mizzou Tradition.
Before our Summer event at the end of July, our association collects donations to help pay for the event and the scholarships that we give out that night. Many of our board members and our new volunteer leader, Jennifer Wood, were involved in asking individuals and businesses to sponsor the event.
